Caps & Requirements
Hit/expertise caps shift a lot at this gear level — the creator notes below (and the full mechanics writeup in the Herald & Argent guide) cover the real per-build requirements.
Best Races
Blood Fury adds +163 spell power, and Command (+5% pet damage) is a real gain for Demonology. Undead (Will of the Forsaken) and Blood Elf (Arcane Torrent) are the utility picks.
Expansive Mind (+5% maximum mana) for longevity; Human (The Human Spirit) as the minor alternative.
Notes
Real creator tips from Scatty (Vista):
- It's very important to understand that for those scenarios, Demonology warlock is a support class, in order to support the raid you have to utilize your toolkit properly.
- There is a little "cheat" that warlocks can use to increase their Demonic Pact's burst potential on the ranged DPS in the raid. If you obtain 4/5 Tier 7 set, you can utilize the 300+ Spirit bonus when casting life tap. The way that this trick works is by swapping your Tier 8 set to Tier 7 set, then you cast life tap to activate the 4 set Tier 7 bonus, then swap back to your Tier 8 set and cast Life tap again, to utilize the bonus spirit. You can also score for maximum efficiency and pre-proc maximum stacks of Illustration of the Dragon Soul by using Hellfire, which will proc Dying Curse as well. I do understand that this is a loaded pre-pull preparation for Demonology warlocks, but with a bit of practice and personal optimization for the chain of action by the player, you can grant the casters quite literally a monumental spell power proc on burst.
