Hunter macro library

General

1 macro

Hunter General macros support the parts of the class that every specialization shares. This group focuses on fast targeting, clean target swaps and utility without losing your main boss target. They are shortcuts for decisions you already understand; they do not automate a rotation, check resources or decide which raid member deserves a cooldown.

They are most valuable during add waves, interrupt assignments, emergency raid utility and moments when changing target would cost casts or auto-attacks. Build the keybind around the assignment you actually receive in your raid, and keep a normal version of any critical ability available until the macro has been tested on your server.

Keep only the targeting layers you can read instantly. If your raid frames, click-casting addon or nameplates already perform the same job, the shorter normal keybind is often safer.

01

Misdirection to focus or pet

Casts Misdirection on your friendly focus, falling back to your pet and then normal targeting. Set the active tank as focus before the pull.

#showtooltip Misdirection
/cast [@focus,help,nodead][@pet,exists,nodead][] Misdirection

Rotation

7 macros

A full rotation bar, submitted by a Beast Mastery/Marksmanship raider running these on live end-game pulls. Each button piggybacks the shot it's named after with whichever off-global-cooldown abilities (Kill Command, Silencing Shot, Auto Shot) should also be kept up, so one press does the job of several. The ! before an ability stops repeated presses from turning it back off, and /run UIErrorsFrame:Clear() silently hides the red "ability not ready" spam that a piggybacked cast throws up when it's still on cooldown.

The pet abilities in the burst macro (Rabid, Furious Howl, Call of the Wild) only fire if your active pet actually has them — they're Beast Mastery pet talents, so a different pet or spec will just skip that line harmlessly.

12

Kill Shot execute, safety auras cleared

Drops Deterrence or Hand of Protection first in case either is still up and would block the hit, fires Kill Shot on an executable target, then tops up Kill Command and Silencing Shot if they're off cooldown.

#showtooltip Kill Shot
/cancelaura Deterrence
/cancelaura Hand of Protection
/cast Kill Shot
/cast !Kill Command
/cast !Silencing Shot
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
13

Aimed Shot with the rest of the kit

Casts Aimed Shot, keeps Auto Shot running, tops up Silencing Shot and Kill Command whenever they're ready, and sends the pet in — one button covering the whole shot instead of four.

#showtooltip Aimed Shot
/cast Aimed Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast !Silencing Shot
/cast !Kill Command
/petattack
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
14

Aspect swap with Trueshot Aura

Alternates between Aspect of the Dragonhawk and Aspect of the Viper on each press for quick mana management, while keeping Trueshot Aura active on the same key.

#showtooltip
/castsequence Aspect of the Dragonhawk, Aspect of the Viper
/cast Trueshot Aura
15

Chimera Shot with the rest of the kit

Same piggyback pattern as the Aimed Shot button, built around Chimera Shot instead — keeps Auto Shot, Kill Command and Silencing Shot maintained on the same press.

#showtooltip Chimera Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast Chimera Shot
/cast !Kill Command
/cast !Silencing Shot
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
16

Rapid Fire cooldown burst

An opener button: Rapid Fire plus every pet cooldown a Beast Mastery pet can bring (Prowl, Rabid, Furious Howl, Call of the Wild), applies Serpent Sting and sends the pet in, all on one press.

#showtooltip Rapid Fire
/cast Prowl
/cast Rapid Fire
/cast !Kill Command
/cast Rabid
/cast Furious Howl
/cast Call of the Wild
/cast Serpent Sting
/petattack
17

Steady Shot with the rest of the kit

The same piggyback pattern again, built around the Steady Shot filler for whenever nothing else is off cooldown.

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast Steady Shot
/cast !Kill Command
/cast !Silencing Shot
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
18

Tranquilizing Shot on the Shambling add

Targets the Shambling Horror add by a partial name match and fires Tranquilizing Shot at it directly — useful during Lady Deathwhisper when you need that add handled without hunting for it manually in a crowded pull.

/tar Shambling
/cast Tranquilizing Shot

Beast Mastery

5 macros

Hunter Beast Mastery macros support pet control and reliable command timing. This group focuses on preventing pet travel, passive-mode mistakes and missed pet abilities during movement. They are shortcuts for decisions you already understand; they do not automate a rotation, check resources or decide which raid member deserves a cooldown.

They are most valuable during target swaps, Valithria waves, Lich King transitions and mechanics that can kill an unattended pet. Build the keybind around the assignment you actually receive in your raid, and keep a normal version of any critical ability available until the macro has been tested on your server.

Pet macros do not replace awareness. Recall before dangerous movement and resend only after the correct target is stable.

02

Steady Shot with Kill Command

Uses Kill Command whenever available and casts Steady Shot. Kill Command is off the global cooldown. The same /cast Kill Command line can be added to Chimera Shot, Aimed Shot and Explosive Shot.

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast Kill Command
/cast Steady Shot
05

Feign Death threat reset

Stops your attacks, recalls your pet and uses Feign Death, reducing the chance that a shot or pet attack immediately breaks it. Remember to send the pet back afterward.

#showtooltip Feign Death
/stopattack
/petpassive
/cast Feign Death
06

Pet attack with Hunter’s Mark

Marks the selected target and sends your pet to attack it.

#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/petattack
/cast Hunter's Mark
07

Immediate pet recall

Pulls your pet away from dangerous targets or mechanics.

#showtooltip
/petpassive
/petfollow
08

Master’s Call mouseover

Uses Master’s Call on a friendly mouseover, or yourself when there is no valid mouseover.

#showtooltip Master's Call
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][@player] Master's Call

Marksmanship

1 macro

Hunter Marksmanship macros support shot timing, assigned interrupts and efficient boss targeting. This group focuses on using off-global abilities without losing control of valuable interrupt tools. They are shortcuts for decisions you already understand; they do not automate a rotation, check resources or decide which raid member deserves a cooldown.

They are most valuable during Deathwhisper casters, Valithria adds, Lich King transition enemies and high-uptime single-target phases. Build the keybind around the assignment you actually receive in your raid, and keep a normal version of any critical ability available until the macro has been tested on your server.

If an interrupt is assigned, keep it separate from damage shots. Automatic damage is never worth missing the cast your raid expected you to stop.

03

Marksmanship Silencing Shot damage macro

Uses Silencing Shot and Chimera Shot together. This increases automatic Silencing Shot usage for damage. For encounters where your interrupt is assigned, keep Silencing Shot on a separate key instead of spending it automatically.

#showtooltip Chimera Shot
/cast Silencing Shot
/cast Chimera Shot

Survival

4 macros

Hunter Survival macros support survival cooldowns, threat control and aspect management. This group focuses on staying mobile and safe while preserving ranged uptime. They are shortcuts for decisions you already understand; they do not automate a rotation, check resources or decide which raid member deserves a cooldown.

They are most valuable during threat spikes, projectile mechanics, Lich King movement and Halion realm transitions. Build the keybind around the assignment you actually receive in your raid, and keep a normal version of any critical ability available until the macro has been tested on your server.

Defensive cancellation belongs on a separate press. Repeatedly tapping one combined button can remove protection immediately.

04

Safe Auto Shot

Targets an enemy when necessary and starts Auto Shot. Repeated presses do not toggle Auto Shot off.

#showtooltip Auto Shot
/targetenemy [noexists][dead][help]
/cast !Auto Shot
09

Aspect modifier

Normal press activates Dragonhawk; Shift activates Viper. The ! prevents repeated presses from accidentally disabling the aspect.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Aspect of the Viper; !Aspect of the Dragonhawk
10

Deterrence with separate cancellation

Cancellation:

#showtooltip Deterrence
/stopattack
/cast Deterrence
11

Deterrence with separate cancellation

Separate buttons prevent button-spamming from instantly cancelling Deterrence.
